Revelation 21:1–5 gives a vision of God’s final renewal. John sees a new heaven and a new earth, and hears the promise that God will dwell with His people, wipe away every tear, and make all things new. The hidden work of the kingdom will one day be fully revealed.

Devotional: Some days the world feels too broken for small acts of faithfulness to matter. We see grief, injustice, sickness, violence, division, and loss, and we wonder what difference one prayer, one kindness, one act of obedience, or one word of hope can make.

Revelation 21 does not deny the brokenness. It answers it with a promise. John sees the final renewal of all things. God dwells with His people. Tears are wiped away. Death, mourning, crying, and pain do not get the last word. The One seated on the throne says, “I am making everything new.”

That promise gives meaning to small faithfulness now. We are not working toward a hopeless future. We are living toward God’s promised renewal. Every act of mercy, every forgiven wrong, every cup of cold water, every word of truth, every hidden prayer, and every faithful seed planted in love points toward the day when God’s kingdom is seen in fullness.

The kingdom may look small or hidden now, but it is moving toward complete transformation. What begins as a seed will not remain only a seed. What is hidden in grace will not remain hidden forever. God’s future is not escape from creation but renewal. Heaven and earth are brought together under the rule of God’s love.

This helps us live with hope instead of despair. We do not have to pretend the world is fine. We do not have to minimize suffering. But we also do not have to believe that brokenness is final. Christ is risen, and the new creation has already begun in Him. The final word belongs to the God who makes all things new.

Today, we can practice hope in small ways. We can plant seeds of the coming kingdom through mercy, justice, prayer, forgiveness, and love. We can trust that hidden grace is not wasted. We can live as people who believe that God’s renewal is already breaking into the world and will one day be complete.

Action: Choose one small action today that reflects God’s coming renewal. Offer mercy, make peace, encourage someone, care for creation, or bring hope into a weary place.

Prayer: God of new creation, thank You that brokenness does not have the final word. When I feel discouraged by the pain of the world, help me remember Your promise to make all things new. Teach me to live with hope, not denial. Let my small acts of faithfulness point toward Your coming kingdom. Use my life as a witness to the grace, mercy, and renewal found in Jesus Christ. In His name I pray. Amen.
