When Strength Runs Low

November 14, 2025

Philippians 1:6 — Paul reminds believers that when strength runs low, we can stand firm in God’s promise that He will finish the good work He started in us.

Devotional: When strength runs low, it’s easy to start wondering if you’ll ever make it to the finish line. Faith feels heavy. The steps that once came easily start to drag. You tell yourself to keep going, but your heart whispers, “I don’t know how much longer I can do this.” Every disciple faces moments like that—times when obedience costs more than it used to, and you feel like you’re running on fumes. But when strength runs low, God’s promise still stands: He’s not finished yet.

Paul wrote those words from a prison cell, not from comfort or victory. Yet his confidence wasn’t in his own ability—it was in God’s faithfulness. “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” That’s not a hope—it’s a guarantee. The same God who started your story isn’t about to abandon the ending.

In those moments when your energy runs thin and your motivation falters, remember that discipleship isn’t about sprinting—it’s about endurance. God never asked us to carry the weight of completion; He simply asked us to trust that He will. When the people of Haggai’s time looked at the unfinished temple, they saw exhaustion. God saw progress. He told them to keep working, not because they had limitless strength, but because He would supply what they lacked.

Maybe your strength has run low from caring for others, from showing up when no one else does, from praying for something that hasn’t changed. Don’t mistake tiredness for failure. Even the strongest disciples get weary. The promise that holds you up isn’t your own resolve—it’s His presence.

Action: When your strength runs low, pause and pray, “Lord, carry what I can’t today.” Let Him finish what only He can complete.

Prayer: Lord, when my strength runs low, remind me that You never tire. Help me to trust Your faithfulness more than my feelings and lean on Your strength when mine fades. Thank You for finishing what You begin and for never leaving me halfway. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Thought for the Day: When your strength runs low, remember—God’s still working.
