Growing in Knowledge of God's Will

Colossians 1:9-10 encourages us to continually seek a deeper understanding of God’s will so that we can live lives that please Him, bearing fruit in all we do.

Devotional:

Life can often feel like a series of crossroads, with decisions to make and paths to choose. In these moments, we might find ourselves asking, "What does God want me to do?" Colossians 1:9-10 reminds us of the importance of growing in our knowledge of God’s will so that we can live lives that truly honor Him.

But understanding God’s will isn’t always about having clear-cut answers for every situation. Instead, it’s about developing a deeper relationship with Him so that we can discern His guidance in our daily lives. This kind of knowledge isn’t just intellectual—it’s personal and practical. It comes from spending time with God, reading His Word, praying, and being sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading.

When we seek to know God’s will, we’re not just looking for directions; we’re looking for a way of life that reflects His character. This means our decisions, big and small, should align with His love, grace, and truth. The more we grow in this knowledge, the more our lives begin to bear fruit—good works, kindness, patience, and all the qualities that reflect Jesus to the world.

Growing in the knowledge of God’s will also brings a sense of peace and purpose. Instead of feeling lost or unsure, we start to see our lives as part of a bigger picture, with each decision leading us closer to the person God created us to be. It’s a journey that requires patience and trust, knowing that God will guide us one step at a time.

Action: Today, take a few moments to ask God for a deeper understanding of His will in your life. Consider journaling your thoughts or prayers as you seek His guidance in a specific area where you need clarity.

Prayer: Lord, we desire to know Your will more deeply so that we can live lives that honor You. Help us to grow in our understanding of Your purpose for us and to trust Your guidance in every decision we make. May our lives bear fruit that reflects Your love and grace to those around us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the Day: Growing in the knowledge of God’s will leads to a life that reflects His love, brings peace, and bears lasting fruit.
