The Pharisees had a problem. Jesus was doing things no one could explain—healing the sick, casting out demons, changing lives. But instead of recognizing God at work, they accused Him of being in league with the devil. Jesus didn’t waste time arguing. He just dropped a truth bomb: “If I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.” In other words—You’re missing it. The kingdom is already here.
Devotional
We talk a lot about heaven as something in the future—something we’ll experience one day. But Jesus wasn’t just pointing to eternity. He was showing that the kingdom of God was already breaking into the present. It wasn’t just an idea; it was power. It was freedom. It was healing. And it was happening right in front of them.
The Pharisees should have been celebrating, but instead, they resisted. Why? Because the kingdom of God didn’t look the way they expected. It didn’t fit inside their rules or traditions. But that’s the thing about God’s kingdom—it doesn’t wait for permission. It doesn’t ask if it fits inside our plans. It breaks in—whether we’re ready or not.
And it’s still breaking in today. Every time someone is set free from addiction, every time healing happens, every time forgiveness replaces bitterness—that’s the kingdom of God at work. It’s not just something we hope for; it’s something we get to live in. Right now.
So the real question is: Are we recognizing it? Or are we, like the Pharisees, so caught up in our own expectations that we miss what God is doing right in front of us?
Action
Take a moment today to ask: Where is the kingdom of God breaking into my life? Where have you seen God move in unexpected ways? Instead of looking for what you thought He would do, open your eyes to what He is doing. And then—celebrate it.
Prayer
Lord, I don’t want to miss what You’re doing. Open my eyes to see Your kingdom breaking into my life. Help me to recognize Your power at work and to celebrate the freedom and healing You bring. Let me not resist You, but welcome Your Spirit to move in every area of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thought for the Day
The kingdom of God isn’t just coming—it’s already here. The question is: Do you see it?
