Somewhere along the way, we became people that want our religion to be comfortable, make us respectable and help us feel good about ourselves instead of allowing it to shake up our life and change our way of living. We want to go to the dance without having to dance. We want the benefits of the Spirit without having to experience having the Spirit. We read about Pentecost and the power given to the New Testament church and smile and go about our own lives thinking that those stories are just that, stories, not applicable to us and thinking that the exuberance talked about in the Bible is something that we have to be careful not to show, because it’s not dignified. If we really and truly want to be like the first century Church, if we want to make a difference in God's Kingdom and be the people that God is calling us to be, we must quit hushing the Holy Spirit!
